MICHAEL J. FURREY, president
environmental consultant
licensed operator

After working twelve years in a large public water utility, Michael J. Furrey founded Agra Environmental and Laboratory Services and serves as its president.

A graduate of Cook College of Rutgers University, he holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Chemistry.

Mike is an instructor of introductory and advanced water treatment courses in New Jersey, and has coordinated many accredited seminars for institutions such as Cook College and for organizations like the Water Environment Association (WEA) and American Water Works Association (AWWA). He has also done the same at many national conferences.

Mike serves on New Jersey’s advisory board for licensing of water and wastewater operators. Having recently served as chairman of the Information Technology committee for the NJ section of the AWWA, he is also its past chair and a member of the NJAWWA Education and Professional Development Committee. He received a national AWWA award in 1998 for Continuing Education Unit Program.

He currently holds a T-4 license (#0020381), W-2 license (#0019166), and aquatic pesticide applicator license (#21338B) for NJ.

Max Huber, environmental consultant, is the newest member of the Agra team. Max is a New Jersey native and a graduate of William Paterson University (with a BA in Communications).

Handling most new business development at Agra, he also enjoys the field work, especially in the area of lake management and geese damage control. He is currently focusing his efforts on compliance with the Very Small Water Systems (VSWS) mandate for licensed water operators.

Huber is an avid outdoorsman who is actively involved in conservation efforts in and around his home turf. He is an active member of the Catskill Forest Preservation Alliance, and has written articles for various conservation publications.

Max has been trained by the New Jersey Water Association to assess water system regulatory compliance, handle distribution system operation and maintenance, to perform water audits, and to conduct leak detection and line testing.

Being concerned with the fast pace of New Jersey’s development and its impact on water use and water quality, Max is pleased to be working with Agra, who, he feels, is ‘ahead of the curve’ with regard to today’s ever-growing water issues.

John Perry, licensed operator, has been working with AELS for a few years now. He graduated from Montclair State University in 1993 with a BA degree.

With over 12 years of experience working in the water/wastewater industry, he serves as a licensed operator for a number of systems. He had served as general supervisor for Newark's 80 MGD Pequannock Water Treatment Plant from 1997 to 1999, where he also held the position of laboratory supervisor and regulatory administrator.

John currently holds T-3, W-3, S-2, and C-2 level licenses in the State of New Jersey. Here at Agra, John functions as the licensed operator for Montague Water and Sewer, being responsible for the overall operation of their wastewater collection system. He also lends his experience to the operation of numerous multilevel water systems, offering expert advice to our clients in the area of water treatment.

John is a strong proponent of operator/environmental professional training and education. He has participated as a trainer for various programs to advance both himself and others, including the State Operator Training Center at Rutgers University.  He also conducts operator training within his own facilities..
